EDITORS' RATINGS OVERALL SCORE:

Overall

RATING

The second-generation Fit addressed nearly every complaint we had of the previous car. More power, more comfort, more functionality, and more features at the same budget-friendly price with virtually the same fuel economy. For the money, the 2009 Honda Fit Sport is the best car offered for sale in the U.S. for most people.

DETAILED EDITORS' RATINGS

Dynamics

RATING

The Sport model remains the most engaging of the Fit lineup, but engine, brake, steering and suspension improvements made across the line make the Fit a far more civilized car than it was last year.

Comfort

RATING

Comfort has been improved up front with new seats and a vastly better driving position. Rear occupants enjoy slightly more room. Everybody likes the more isolated suspension and smoother ride.

Function

RATING

The Fit is nothing if not functional. The clever, multifaceted interior continues to defy Euclidian geometry. Visibility improves as do interior layout and utility. Touchscreen navigation debuts this year.

Design/Build Quality

RATING

An all-new interior and exterior design don't degrade quality one bit, in fact, in some cases the quality has been improved.

DETAILED PROFILE:

Economical Transportation Right price, right time, right car.

Daily Commuter Now available with Navi, the consummate commuter car can even be used for deliveries!

Fuel Efficient Rated at 33-mpg city/hwy combined regardless of model.

Comfortable Mellowed suspension settings, new seats up front, and a vastly better driving position give the Fit something it was lacking before: Long-haul driving comfort.

Cargo Hauler Don't forget you can fold all the seats flat and haul up to 57 cu-ft of stuff in this little car. The second-row seats fold down (as expected), but also up for tall items through the rear doors.
